This is amazing, I've wanted to work with Foam Core...but I just have no idea how!
*double thumbs up*
If enough people really want to know, I'll try to post the steps on how I make them or how to make slightly easier ones, too.

Any chance you could do another tutorial? lol I'm trying to learn how to make Keyblades, because my friends and I are really stubborn so we make all our own props...that and we're poor...
How hard is it to use the foam core? And are the electric saws hard to use?

Foam core is not super easy to work with, but not super hard, either. As long as you've got something that can really cut through it. Jigsaws are not that hard to use at all. Just be careful, and ask somebody to find you a blade good for detail cutting. And buying an electric pumpkin cutter (now's the time of year to do it) would be very useful, too.
Good luck with making your keyblades! If you have any questions, hit me up and I'll try to be helpful.

My first question, could you use a wood rod or PVC pipe for the base of this one? And then put the curvy details? Or would that be too much work for not as good of a result?

I tried to think about how to make this one out of PVC or a wooden rod, but it'd be a lot more work than just starting with a straight flat base. It's a simpler shape than many of the other keyblades, so making a solid wood based one with some 3D detailing ought to work just fine, if you wished to try that.

How sturdy is the finished product? With the foam I mean. Say someone stepped on it by accident, how much of a repair job must I do?
